Firenze IV
So, Wednesday, April 13 (Now within 1 month of moving back to College Station, WHOOP!) we made our fourth trip to Firenze.
At this point I have to say I've explored Firenze about enough. Really I don't like it as much as Rome, I think it's quite over-rated. Firenze is pretty but seriously its infested with tourists like a plague, not a lot of fun, and all the attractions are from one particular century of Florentine glory, so its all pretty similar.
In the morning we went to the Academia and saw the staute of David. We had already seen the copy, but this is the original, in excellent shape of course, seeing as it's stone kept indoors. I have to say though, he's not entirely proportioned correctly. His hands are too big, and other stuff is too small to be realistic. It's sort of wierd.
During the afternoon I walked around town trying to find any place that wasn't over-run with tourists. I failed. It sucked.
For the late afternoon we went to the Uffizi gallery, which was pretty neat. I have to say though that at this point I've seen so much of the same art stuff that I'm no longer truly impressed by very much of it. I did however see one piece that I thought really rocked. So here are some pictures of what will probably be the last time I'm ever in Firenze. How sad, I didn't even really say goodbye to the place...
The streets of Firenze
The Laurentian Library, but the inside was closed...
The Piti palace
The Uffizi
AWESOME, Medusa by Caravaggio, I snuck in a picture
Thus concludes my time in Firenze. Its sort of wierd that I don't think I'll be back there again, at least not for a long long time. It's not even going to be that high on my list of places to visit unfortunately... ok well on to this weekend and then I'll be all caught up!
