The week of almost trips

Well, I just thought I'd post a little update now that we're several days into March and the last thing I added was from a week ago.

We didn't end up going to Sienna on Wednesday as we had planned because of increment weather. Ironically the weather on Wednesday was the only nice day this week, Monday and Tuesday were brutally cold (which is why the trip was cancelled) and it got bad again yesterday.

This Tuesday we had a "Cowboys and Indians" party at Velvet Underground, which is one of the night clubs here in town. The idea came from a couple of the Kansas people to celebrate two birthdays. Hardly anyone had appropriate gear, so most of us made needed items out of stuff lying around the center. I made a stetson out of white poster board. It actually looked pretty good, I think I could probably start a new brand of paper cowboy hats. Maybe not.

So we sat out the trip on Wednesday which caused us to have a Thursday schedule. Thursday's suck, and we had two in a row courtesy of the nice weather on Wednesday. That was crappy.

Last night (Thursday) we had a party for "Things that start with S" at Regiro's which is my favorite pub here in town. People went as all kinds of interesting things: superman, strobe light, stripes, stalker... it was interesting. I went as a stud. I didn't even have to dress up, it was pretty cool.

We had planned on going to Perugia today to see the Chocolate Factory, but the factory requires you to make an appointment, and they were all booked. So this week has been basically the week of trips that didn't happen. Sad. Still, we might do a small trip to Arezzo or Cortona tomorrow, just for kicks, and we definitely will leave on schedule for Venice on Sunday. On the way to Venice we're stopping by Ravenna (which was the Capitol of the Western Roman Empire for the last 50 years or so of its existence) and then on Thursday we're making a day trip from Venice to Vicenza.

Turns out the Venice Airport is notoriously hard to get to from Lido (which is the island our hotel is on) so it looks like Brett, Jon, Jason and I are going to be sleeping in the Airport on Thursday night to make sure we catch our 6 am flight to Brussels. Thus will commence our Spring Break excursion.

I don't think I'll have a chance to post anything online again until March 22 or so. If I happen upon a cheap internet cafe I might make some basic updates, but no guaruntees. We'll be back in class on March 21, though, and I should be able to make some updates within a day or two of that time. You can expect it will probably take me a week or so to get all caught up, but there will probably be about 100 or 200 new pictures of Venice, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Prague, and Vienna.

Well that's about it for pre-spring break. Feel free to email, though I may not get a chance to read any of it until I get back from the break. Ciao!
